Okay, this is kinda late, but I have to say you're badly misinformed. Vista DOES suck in a lot of ways, but if you're going to hate it then at least do so for the right reasons. First off, Vista does NOT cost $400+. Ultimate edition, the most expensive of the vista family, only costs around $250 to $300. Secondly, there is only ONE previous family of formats that office 2007 will not open, and they are the BETA versions of .formatx (.docx etc). It was clealy stated at the time of the beta releases that this family of formats might be changed for the final release. Also if office is too expensive, there are free alternatives out there - Open Office for example works very well. And as for security, EVERY version of windows has had these problems on initia release. That's why MS release these handy little things called service packs once a year or there abouts. Try running a pre service pack copy of XP with no protection installed online. I garuntee it won't last a day without succumming to at least a dozen viruses.

PS - I'm not a microsoft fanboy. I just can't stand it when people don't get their facts right. Personlly I intend to wait untill I get a new computer. Not because of security since I never trust windows with that, but because I'm waiting for them to fix DirectX 10.
:iconurif:
1st, i haven't touched windows is more than 10 years. i simply can't work with it. i grew up in a unix environment. i only had to touch windows at work while coding.
$400 it is: windows basic home edition plus antivirus, plus personal firewall plus plus plus, $400 for a normal user. what do you get for that money? a bloated OS that cripples your media, it is insecure as hell and won't run properly on hardware that is one year old (don't get me started on how much a new computer with the "proper" "drm-compliant" hardware will cost).
i do get my facts right. and just for the sake of this discussion, try opening a word document created with office xp on office 2007, see what happens with the tables and font formatting.

Nah, they wouldn't listen. If they did, we (you, actually) would finally get a good OS. Of course, you could always switch to Linux, but Linux is oooh so "incompatible".

Nice wallpaper, though. But the Vista logo spoils it.
:icontheschneidi:
very nice wallpaper

oh the unix man urif. love to hear some of his speechs how bad are the OSes like Win are.
All operating systems have their bad and good things. I can only report it from my view.

The multitasking of Linux is even better than in xp e.g. if you try to open a floppy which is corrupted , the whole windows is keen on open the disk and has no time for other tasks.
On linux I often have to download a huge count of packages and libraries until a application will work e.g. Inkscape needed a lot of packages and after a broken package I needed to reinstall ubuntu caused by broken relations. For windows you have mostly all needed files together.

The best thing would be that we all switch to MSDOS without directx and all the colorfull sites of a GUI ^^.

lol What's up with internet users these days :S
all they seem to do is argue over which OS is better when stuff like that is personal to the users preference, (who really cares)

but nways, dude could you send me the PSD file if you have it, I'm creating my own bootup image for Vista home premium but this would look awesome.. :(

Could you change it at all instead of Ultimate to premium :)

Re: urif

Oh shut the FUCK up, you idiot.
1) You sound like a fucktard saying "windoze". Welcome to 1996.
2) OH NO IT DOESN'T COME WITH A COMPILER? NOR AN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE DYNO TOOL? WHAT KIND OF PIECE OF CRAP?! Of course it doesn't come with that, you're paying for an operating system, and you should be damn thankful it comes with everyday extras.
3) Yes you so fucking can listen to music, DRM or Non-DRM.
4) Since when is Office incapable of loading or saving previous versions? My copy of Word 2007 has NO PROBLEM opening Word 95 files, and saving in a compatible format.
5) Try actually USING it before you spout retarded bullshit that you overread at your Mac fanboy club.

"Urif: Because you are the very first person to use the phrases "winblows", "windoze", or "micro$oft", you unique flower, you."

yes, i realize this. !care. Point is, he should actually USE Vista first. I have had very few crashes running Vista for the 9 months I've had it. Most were due to the overclock, one or two because some programs crashed so horribly (Half Life 2 when i was fucking with variables) that I preferred just punching the reset button). My PVR has been running Vista Ultima for 5 months nonstop, never shutting down, never slowing down, nothing. And it's not even a powerful system! It's a 1.6GHz Athlon XP, 512MB PC100 sdram.
